Given that Hurricane Matthew has caused a great deal of damage and loss of life, I thought you might find it useful to have some homiletical thoughts in response to that sort of thing.

I have posted nine sermons that responded to various hurricanes in the past that will give you some ideas about what you might say about the current situation. You can see them by going to:

- Then click on "Situation 1. Hurricanes and Other Natural Disasters"
- Then click on "Hurricanes"

While on the disasters page, note that there are also sermons on:

- Shootings
- Troubled times and personal crises
- Financial issues.

ALSO NOTE that these resources are among the various specialized sermon links that are always available on the www.sermonwriter.com site.

See the links at the TOP of the page.
Hover over the Sermons link, and you will see a submenu:

- Sermons by Book of Bible (Approximately 1500 sermons from Genesis to Revelation)

- Sermons for Special Days (This especially deserves your examination. Dozens or hundreds of sermons listed under 51 special days or occasions--listed alphabetically from All Saints to World Communion. Of special interest at this time of year are sermons for Thanksgiving, Hanging of the Greens, Christmas, Holy Name, and New Year's Day)

- For Times of Disaster (This is the link for sermons on hurricanes, shootings, etc.)

- Funeral Homilies (You won't be able to use these "as is," but they will give you ideas about developing sermons that fit the person)

- Wedding Homilies (Ditto)

Take some time to explore these--and keep in mind that they will be there when you find a need.
