 Hi Judy,
We are staying tonight at a hotel beside the Newark International Airport and are doing well; we'll evacuate to St. John's if parking here swamps.
Every hotel around here is overbooked, and the dish television goes off and on, more off than on; kids are playing everywhere downstairs.
We have international folks from all over stranded around the airport; there are mandatory evacuations at Battery Park City in lower Manhattan, Hoboken, Belmar, Spring Lake, and Long Beach Island, New Jersey, the Rockaways and Coney Island in Brooklyn, and Long Island beach communities; in south shore points in Connecticut tickets are being issued to any cars on the streets there now. 2,000 national guard troops have been called up in New York. Most models pinpoint Fire Island on the south of Long Island as the place Irene will come on shore here at noon.

Our church is the usual Sunday day midtown shelter for Elizabeth, NJ, and we will hopefully be able to serve lunch to over a hundred. Our Sunday services will go ahead at 10 in English, 11:30 in Spanish, and 2:30 bilingual Vespers as always, Lord willing, even if the creeks do rise!
Thanks for your prayers!
Peace and blessings,
Joe

Hi Joe,

I tried to send this to your mailbox- not sure if it worked, so I'm
posting it here. Thinking and praying for you and your congregation
while you face Hurricane Irene. Please keep us informed.

Shalom,
Judy
