[OLDCATH-L] _SOME_ Anglicans in Australia Unanimously Vote to Become Catholic

I am not surprised that "Forward in Faith" has taken this step --
what +David Robardts says about their experience: "In Australia we
have tried for a quarter of a decade to get some form of episcopal
oversight but we have failed… We're not really wanted any more, our
conscience is not being respected." -- is also true of FIF in the
British Isles, and of several groups in the US.

Unlike +Facione, I do not see the phenomenon of Anglicans
"swimming the Tiber" to join the Roman Communion as a devious plot by
the Roman Curia to destroy Anglicanism -- although I imagine there has
been a great deal of gleeful hand-rubbing in Rome -- but as the result
of the unwillingness of the wildly illiberal wing in power to abide
by the terms of the "Anglican Compromise" (Everyone be polite, and be
nice to others who disagree with one) worked out in the reign of
Elizabeth I.

     I predict that the Evangelical (Low-Church, crypto-Presbyterian)
wing will be the next target. They won't go to Rome, however.. :)
