[OLDCATH-L] New Translations

+Tony,
The 'New' translation is really closer to Arnold Harris Mathew "Old Catholic
Missal and Ritual" so it would behoove Old Catholics to follow it.
The English niceitese of the current Norvus Ordo written by Abp Daniel
Pilarczyk, Chair of the committee, didn't follow the Latin translation
closely enough and this has bothered Rome for some 40 years. I for one will
use the new changes once they are published for two reasons...
1) RCC publishing companies can mass produce cheaper than we can as a group.
2) I've studied the changes in the Mass and see some important wording
changes that will be more meaningful to the people.
3) I think the change to the first person pronoun is more apt in the Creed,
I don't necessarily like the Apostles' Creed use of the word 'hell' I had a
tough time with that in grade school~~~because if Christ went to HELL for
three days what was going to happen to me~~~the GRAVE sounds more real.
I could go on and on, but basically, I look forward to the new translation.
And With Thy Spirit
+Marty

Rome is simply doing what they should have done 30-odd years ago --
creating an English translation that is faithful to both the spirit
and the letter of the Mass of Pius V ("Tridentine") Rite.
I did the same in '96: http:/am-cath.org/GregLit.html -- see Notes
at
end.

In a way, I already am.
