I did relay your original here, with your name excised (which is the way
I started this dangerous cross-posting), just as written, otherwise, as
a "reply" to David's on the other List.
However, here on these Lists I'll mention that the "two or three
gathered together in My Name..." citation continues that Jesus promises
to be in the midst of us, _not_ promises to grant our petitions.
I think that the general principle of petitionary prayer is that God
will give us those things that are good for us to have, not necessarily
what we ask for (of course, +S has a point that this is intercessory
prayer, too, not just petitionary, but it looks to me that it does
partake of both.) and another of course, I'd say myself that those
protections would be good for us to have, but then we don't always know.
